How do you design a free form that has functions and technical details? On paper or directly on the computer? The computer only comes into play at a very late stage. The form is created in the mind, then a lot of sketch paper is used to discuss the idea with the team and only then is the 3D data is generated.
Here it was also a question of realising the design using the possibilities afforded by wood. Do carpenters and designers work together from the very beginning? Our approach is to create a design that proves itself in terms of its function. This is why our team not only comprises designers, technicians and carpenters, but most projects also incorporate interdisciplinary work even in the early stages. Why go to the effort of planning something that ends up not being possible to implement? And just as important: if there’s a technical solution, we’ll find a design for it.
